HydroDIURYL Information: Precaution, Side Effects
Generic Name
The generic name of the medicine HydroDIURYL is hydrochlorothiazide. HydroDIURYL is a diuretic and used for eliminating excessive water from the body and used for lowering high blood pressure. There may be various conditions in which water accumulates in the body and causes edema such as congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, kidney failure etc.
For reducing high blood pressure the medicine can either be given alone or in combination of other medicines of high blood pressure.
Precaution
- If your doctor recommends you hydroDIURYL, tell your doctor if you are allergic to hydroDIURYL.
- If you have a problem in urinating, you should not take the medicine.
- If you have kidney, liver, diabetes or gout, hydroDIURYL should be prescribed to you with caution.
- If you have asthma or any other allergy, use the medicine with caution. If you develop allergic reaction with the medicine, contact to your doctor.
- If you are taking any other medicine whether prescribed, non-prescribed, food supplements, vitamins or herbal products, you should inform your doctor.
- HydroDIURYL may affect unborn baby, if you are pregnant, you should inform to your doctor. If you become pregnant while taking hydroDIURYL, inform your doctor.
- HydroDIURYL passes into the breast milk. If you are a breast-feeding mother on hydroDIURYL stop breast-feeding as the medicine can harm the infant.
Warning
- Sometimes the body fluid reduces due to excessive sweating or diarrhea. This may result in further lowering of your blood pressure to below normal and in such situations, you should contact to your doctor.
- HydroDIURYL may increase the blood sugar level in some of the diabetic patients. Your doctor may monitor your sugar level at continuous interval.
- Diuretics may decrease the potassium concentration in blood; you may be advised to follow calcium rich diet.
- You should follow other treatment advised to you for controlling blood pressure and potassium level in your blood such and diet and regular physical exercise.
- Avoid alcohol as alcohol may increase the dizziness caused by the medicine.
- Avoid smoking as cigarette smoking may decrease the effectiveness of the medicine.
Overdose
- You should only use the recommended dosage of hydroDIURYL and if you suspect an overdose you should immediately contact to your doctor.
- The symptoms of overdose may include weakness, dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, vomiting, nausea and muscle cramp.
Missed Dose
- If you missed a dose, take as soon as you remember the missed dose. If it is almost the time of your next dose take a single dose.
- Never take double dose at a time of hydroDIURYL.
Side Effects
- Side effects of the medicine may vary from person to person.
- Some common side effects include dizziness upon standing, dry mouth, stomach problems, muscle pain, muscle cramp, weakness, irregular heartbeat, thirst and headache.
- Some rare side effects include blood sugar variation, difficulty in breathing, hives, rashes, kidney failure, skin peeling, vomiting, dizziness, constipation, impotence, sensitivity to light and stomach disorders.
- If any of the side effects as mentioned above or any other side effects are observed, you should immediately contact to your doctor.
How to take
- The medicine should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor.
- The medicine should be taken after breakfast if taken once a day or before evening if recommended multiple times and should be swallowed with a glass of water.
How to store
- HydroDIURYL should be stored at room temperature and out of reach of children.
- The medicine should be kept away from excessive heat and moisture.
- Outdated medicines should not be used and should be destroyed to avoid misuse of the medicines.
