Genora
- Genora is an oral contraceptive. These are birth control pills taken for pregnancy-prevention. These pills contain two hormones which are basically progestins and estrogen. The pill impedes egg development making the egg incapable to take in the sperm cell thus fertilization cannot take place. There are cases wherein the egg can fully develop despite the pill intake because it just thickens the mucus in the cervix at the uterus opening. The hardened muscles at the uterus opening do not permit sperm penetration. The uterus lining is also changed by the pill causing the egg not to reside in the uterus which prevents fertilization from occuring.
- Genora must be taken daily as prescribed in the directions of the package. The pill must be taken religiously to decrease the chance of forgetting to take the pill. Missing the pill increases the possibility of pregnancy; hence, doctor’s advice must be sought.
- In genora just other contraceptives, may have side effects. The effects can be simple acne up to the worst such as vaginal disturbances and loss of vision. Prior to taking in Genora or other contraceptive pill, it is best to seek your physician’s advice. The contraceptive used by a friend may not be that effective to your physique resulting to side effects. If a contraceptive has been helpful to another, it does not follow that the same outcome would be observed in your case.
- Genora must only be prescribed to women who have no history of ailment. If a woman is suffering from migraine headaches (preceded by blind spots, pulsing light), breast cancer, or vaginal disturbances she must not take Genora or other contraceptive pills. Taking the pill may aggravate your present ailment.
- Genora must be taken with precaution. If a woman is above 40 years old, taking the pill is not advised. Also, if a woman has breast-cancer history, it would be better not to take in the pill since the estrogen content of the pill is correlated with risks of having breast cancer. Women with atypical blood pressure are also informed to refrain from taking the pill, since the hormones present in it will heighten the estrogen and progestin content in the body and an upshot may lead to serious blood or heart related problems.
- Genora does not guarantee an individual’s safety with sexually transmitted diseases. People have this mistaken belief that if one is taking a pill or an oral contraceptive, it will reduce the risks of having sexually transmitted diseases. Genora and other oral contraceptives cannot protect an individual from sexually transmitted diseases. Couples are still advised to use condoms, spermicide and the pill to assure being STD (sexually transmitted diseases)-free.
- Genora with other drugs and food taken in at the same instance. When the pill is taken in combination with Lipitor, Aspirin and other drugs leading to uncommon results. It is suggested to ask for your doctor’s opinion about this issue. Taking two drugs that have two different actions in our body might result in developing a disease owing to the cause that the drugs have conflicting effects.
- Genora and other contraceptives taken in by pregnant women are highly rejected. For the fetus’s safety and as well as the mother’s, taking in the pill is highly discouraged and the conventional method of contraception would be the best option. After giving birth, the mother must delay her pill intake which is necessary for pregnancy prevention, at least for a month. Taking in the pill right away can affect the mother’s breast milk that will in turn have repercussions on the infant
