Chlorpromazine:
Use of Carmine:
The main ingredient in chlorpromazine is chlorpromazine hydrochloride and used for treating schizophrenia, hallucinations and delusions. Chlorpromazine is also used for treating severe hiccups, nausea or vomiting and intermittent porphyria. It is available in the range of 25 mg to 200 mg and it should be taken only on prescription of doctor.
Precautions:
- The medicines should be taken only if prescribed by the doctor.
- If you are allergic to this medicine, you should tell to your doctor before taking chlorpromazine.
- If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or are breast-feeding, tell your doctor.
- Chlorpromazine syrup should be carefully taken and its contact with skin may cause irritation or allergy.
- If you are prescribed the medicine for rectal depository, lay down and insert the suppository into the rectum. Hold the suppository for 2 minutes. Allow yourself for 15 to 20 minutes in the same condition.
- If you have high blood pressure or cardiac related problems, kidney, liver or lung problem, consult your doctor before taking the injection.
- If you are suffering from asthma, diabetes, bronchitis, seizers and enlarge prostate you should consult your doctor before taking chlorpromazine.
- If you have a plan for surgery including dental surgery, inform your surgeon that you are on chlorpromazine.
- Sometimes the combinations of medicines, if taken together may interact, so if you are taking any other medicine or herbal product, inform your doctor before taking the injection.
Warning:
- If should take chlorpromazine only if prescribed by a doctor.
- You should not drive a car or operate heavy machineries after taking chlorpromazine.
- Infants under six month of age should not be given this medicine.
- Avoid intake of alcohol while you are on chlorpromazine.
- If you are taking aluminum ar magnesium containing antacids. You should take antacids only one hour after taking chlorpromazine.
Overdose:
- The overdose of the medicine may cause some side effects as mentioned below.
- If you observe any side effects, as mentioned below, you should contact to your doctor immediately.
How to take:
- Chlorpromazine should be taken only if prescribed by a doctor.
- Chlorpromazine comes in various forms, tablets, capsules , oral liquids and rectal suppository.
- Do not open capsules, swallow them whole. Do not allow touching your skin with the liquid medicine.
Side Effects:
- The common side effects of chlorpromazine include skin rashes, nausea, vomiting, headache, irregular heart beats, irregular blood pressure, difficulty in breathing, difficulty in walking, difficulty in swallowing, difficulty in passing urine, sweating, eye problem, skin problem fever, fainting and constipation.
- If anyone of these cases is observed, you must call your doctor immediately.
How to store:
- The medicine should be stored in a safe place at room temperatures, and out of reach of children. These medicines should be kept away from excessive heat and moisture.
- Outdated medicine should be thrown out.
