Desyrel
There are different names for the drug Desyrel one being Trazadone.
What is Desyrel?
This medication is an anti-depressant it is used to treat people who are depressed or have anxiety and emotional distress.
How should Desyrel be taken?
This medication should be given to you at a low level when first starting it. The recommend dose would be 150 to 200 milligrams daily. This medication should be taken after you have had a meal or a snack. To cause your stomach from becoming upset. If this medication is used in elderly people. Do not give more than one half of the dose that is given to you by your doctor for a higher dose may not be safe. This medications use on children is not recommended because it is not known if it is safe enough for children to use. Talk to your child doctor about this if you feel your child needs this medication.
Precautions for taking Desyrel.
If you are 65 years or older you may have more side effects, your doctor may want to give you something else if he thinks this medication is too strong for you. With this medication you will not be as alert as you always are so be sure to be careful when driving or using any other heavy machinery or doing any other things that could cause an accident. Avoid alcohol or any other meds you might be taking that will slow your reactions. This would include any of the following…..

Be sure to tell your doctor if you are taking any of the medications that was just said above. Also talk to your doctor if you have had any surgeries for heat problems or have heart failure. Also if you have had or do have seizures. Because this medication is known to cause seizures in people. If you are pregnant or might become pregnant do not use this medication because it can cause side affects in the child and may even cause you to have a miss carriage.
Overdose
Overdose of this drug has not been known to cause death. But it is a possibility so if you feel you or someone else has taken an over dose be sure to go to your local emergency room right away. And have your stomach pumped to remove the drug from your body.

Be sure to tell your doctor about any other medications you are taking prescription and non prescription drugs. This also includes herbs. Also be sure to tell your doctor if you have used any illegal drugs because it could cause serious side effects to you.
