Brand Name: Urispas

Generic Name: flavoxate

What Is Flavoxate (Urispas)?

Flavoxate belongs to the family of drugs known as antispasmodics.  It comes in tablet form and is taken by mouth.  The medicine works by relaxing the muscle in the bladder wall and lessens contractions of the blader wall. Flavoxate is used to relieve spasms of the urinary tract and bladder, and to treat the symptoms of urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, urinary frequency, urinary leakage and painful or difficult urination.  It can also be used for other symptoms determined by your doctor that would benefit from treatment with Flavoxate.

How To Take Flavoxate

Flavoxate should be taken exactly as directed by your physician.  It should be taken at regular intervals with a full glass of water, and it is best to take it on an empty stomach.  However, if stomach upset occurs, it may be taken with food to avoid this.
