Generic Name: cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride

What is cyclobendaprine hydrochloride (Flexeril)?

It is a muscle relaxant used to relieve muscle spasms that result from such injuries as pulls, strains and sprains.  Flexeril is prescribed to relieve muscular pain and stiffness.  Flexeril is best used in conjunction with rest and physical therapy to achieve optimum results.  Flexeril is also a drug treatment option for those suffering from fibromyalgia.  It works through the central nervous system, allowing messages to the brain that cause muscle stiffness to be modified.

Flexeril should only be used for short periods of time, and never for longer than three weeks.  Take this medication exactly as instructed by your physician.  Flexeril can be taken either with or without food.  Make sure to take it with a full glass of water.
