Exelon:
Generic Name: The generic name of the exelon is Rivastigmine Tartarate and is a reversible cholinesterase inhibitor and is used for treating mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease by boosting levels of acetylcholine. Alzheimer’s disease is associated with the brains functionality especially with respect to flow of information and memory and exelon in some cases may temporarily improve these functions. The medicine should be taken only if prescribed by the doctor and it is available in capsule form ranging from 1.5 mg to 6.0 mg
Precaution:
- If you are allergic to exelon, you should not take this medicine.
- If you have history of asthma and other lung problem, discuss with your doctor before taking the medicine.
- If you have a problem heart disease, exelon may cause pulse rate very low. So you should consult your doctor before taking exelon.
- If you have a problem of ulcer or other bleeding problem, you should consult to your doctor before taking exelon.
- If two drugs are taken together, they may interact with each other. If you are taking any prescribed or non-prescribed, food supplements or herbal medicine, you should inform your doctor before taking exelon.
Warning:
- In some cases significant weight loss has been observed. If you are on exelon and observe weight loss, you should contact to your doctor.
- If you or exelon and observe nausea and vomiting, you should report your doctor.
- Do not take any non-prescribed medicine without consulting your doctor.

Overdose:
- You should not use double dose at a time.
- The symptoms of overdose may vary from person to person.
- The symptoms of overdose may include convulsions, irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, nausea, sweating, vomiting, and muscle spasm.
- If you observe any of the symptoms or any other symptoms, you should contact to your doctor immediately.
Side Effects:
- The side effects of exelon may vary from person to person.
- The common side effects include nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, sweating, anxiety, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite, insomnia, weight loss, urine infection, tremor, weakness, vomiting, muscle spasms, and difficulty in breathing, slow heart rate, irregular blood pressure and convulsions.
- Some other side effects may also be observed. If you observe any of the symptoms as mentioned or any other symptom, you should talk to your doctor immediately.
How to take:
- Take exelon only if prescribed by the doctor.
- Take the medicine with food in the morning and evening or as directed by the doctor.
- Swallow the medicine as whole. Don’t cut or chew the medicine.
- If you have missed a dose, take as soon as you remember. If it is the time of your next dose, take a single dose. Do not take double dose.
How to store:
- The medicine should be stored at room temperature preferably below 30 degree centigrade and out of reach of children
- The exelon should be kept away from excessive heat and moisture.
- Outdated medicines should not be used.
