Other Common Names: Roman motherwort, Throw-wort.

Latin description: Leonurus cardiaca.

Parts to use:

Chemical constituents: glycosides, volatile oil, tannins, stachydrine, leonurinine.

Actions: Astingent, calmative, cardiotonic,emmenagogue, stomachic, antispasmodic.

Medicinal Uses & Benefits

Relaxing nervine.
Used for nervous heart problems and as a sedative. Will strengthen and normalize function of the heart.
Used for female problems. Promotes menses.

Motherwort calms the nerves, strengthens the heart and is useful for female disorders of any kind.
Some people may get dermatitis from handling the fresh plant.
The Chinese Motherwort is called Yi Mu Cao with the following properties: Antibacterial, antifungal, antihypertensive, antispasmodic, diuretic, emmenagogue.

CAUTION: Do not use during pregnancy.
Dosage

Capsules: Take 4-6 “0” capsules 4x daily.
Infusion: Drink 3 cups daily.
