Blood Test : ToxicologyThis blood test is used as a general screening tool to detect a large number of popularly abused medications, or "street drugs." Patients who require this test are those thought to have consumed a harmful drug, victims of an overdose, the unconscious or unresponsive, or those with bizarre, unexplainable behavior. Medications and street drugs that may be detected with this test include: 1. Barbiturates 2. Tranquilizers 3. Sleep agents 4. Antipsychotic medications 5. Alcohol 6. Amphetamines 7. Cocaine 8. Hallucinogens 9. Aspirin 10. Acetaminophen 11. Miscellaneous * Occasionally urine and stomach contents (vomit) will also be tested for the same drugs.
